Eating disorder coaching
In-home eating disorder coaching for ages 12 and up
In-home eating disorder coaching is daily, hands-on support at home for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, OSFED and ARFID. A Recover at Home coach with lived recovery prepares meals from the dietitian’s plan and supports every hard moment, following our licensed clinicians’ plan, for ages 12 and up in Colorado and Wyoming.
We use a step-down model. We determine how much support you need and we step down as you progress through recovery. This will be a guide for how you are progressing and when we decrease support. We primarily work with Anorexia (AN) and Bulimia (BN), but we are able to work with Binge eating disorder (BED), OSFED, and ARFID as well.
How it works
- 1
A free call
20 minutes with Michele, our Director of Operations, to hear what’s going on and whether we’re a fit.
- 2
We connect with your team
With your permission, we talk with your dietitian, therapist and physician, or our in-house therapist and dietitian, so we’re all working from one plan.
- 3
Your milestone map
After the first month of getting to know you, your eating disorder, your family, and your treatment team, Kathryn will develop a personalized milestone map.
- 4
Step down, then step back
This is when accountability is fully transferred from coach to the individual.
an example
What a day with a coach can look like
Early on, a coach is with you for most of the day. Every family’s schedule is different. This is just one shape it can take.
- MorningBreakfast together, following the dietitian’s plan. A calm start before school.
- MiddayLunch and snack support, at home or nearby, wherever recovery needs to happen.
- AfternoonA ride to a therapy appointment, then a walk-and-talk debrief afterwards.
- EveningCooking dinner together, then sitting with the hard feelings that sometimes come after.
- WeeklyA short update to your treatment team on what we’re seeing.
Example of how step-down support often looks.
Although everyone’s recovery looks a little different, we do see timeline trends. (Average length is 6-18 months from start to finish.) This depends on the individual and the severity of their eating disorder.
- Month 1 and 2 10-12 hours/day, 7 days/week Getting to know you, your family and your team. Support at nearly every meal.
- Month 3 and 4 8 hours/day, 7 days/week Building routines and confidence around food.
- Month 5 and 6 6 hours/day, 6 days/week More independence, with support at the hardest meals.
- Month 7 and 8 4 hours/day, 5 days/week Practicing on your own and checking in together.
- Month 9 and 10 2 hours/day, 3 days/week Restaurants, social plans and the trickier situations.
- Month 11 and 12 1 hour every other week (for a dinner out) By this point you are very far into recovery. This catch up is simply to catch up and hang out. This is when accountability is fully transferred from coach to the individual.
While this may seem like a lengthy commitment, our goal is sustainability. On average, residential, PHP, and outpatient combined for one round of treatment takes about 12 months as well. Unfortunately though, many patients relapse and need to do this 2, 3, 4, 5 times.
An example only. Your plan and pace are set with your treatment team.

who we do not work with
Refeeding
Individuals that need to go through refeeding or who are currently in the process of refeeding. (Refeeding is not the same as weight restoring. We do help our clients weight restore.)Medically unstable individuals
Medical stability is determined by a physician. In the hospital right now?
If you are medically unstable and/or need to go through refeeding, we are happy to begin coaching and support you through your inpatient stay while you are stabilized. If your team agrees, we will pick up care when you are discharged from inpatient instead of you being transferred to residential. No treatment team yet?
Our in-house therapist and dietitian can join your care, and we are happy to refer you to a physician.

Questions about eating disorder coaching
Don’t see yours? Ask us directly.
Do we need a treatment team already?
No. Our in-house therapist and dietitian can join your care, and we are happy to refer you to a physician. If you already have a team, we work directly alongside them.
Do you offer virtual eating disorder coaching?
Yes. For families in Colorado and Wyoming who live too far for in-home visits, or who need lighter support, our coach Breana works with clients over video: meal support from the dietitian’s plan, check-ins around the hardest moments, and the same updates to your treatment team. We’ll help you decide on your free call whether in-home or virtual fits best.
What ages do you work with?
Ages 12 and up, and their families.
How long do families work with you?
Average length is 6-18 months from start to finish. This depends on the individual and the severity of their eating disorder.
My child doesn’t want help. Can you still work with them?
Yes. We don’t require clients to be “ready” or to want recovery. We work alongside them wherever they are, which paradoxically often creates more openness to change than forced compliance ever does.
Our philosophy

To create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where recovery can unfold organically.
Eating disorders often travel with anxiety or OCD. Read a client’s story about neurodivergence and eating disorders, or meet our recovery coaches.
