In-home OCD support alongside ERP therapy
In-home OCD support is daily help practicing the exposure and response prevention (ERP) homework an ERP therapist designs, in the places OCD shows up. At Recover at Home, a coach follows the written plan from our in-house ERP therapist or your own, with longer days at first and less over about six months, in Colorado and Wyoming.
Exposure work doesn’t stop when the therapy session ends. Our coaches help you practice the homework your ERP therapist designs, whether that’s our in-house ERP therapist or your own, at home and in the places OCD shows up, with longer days at first and less as you progress.
Built on our eating disorder program: the same daily coaching at home, the same in-house clinical team, and the same step-down plan.

What a recovery coach does with you
Coaches are trained in mental health first aid, suicide prevention and ERP homework basics. Your ERP therapist designs every exposure.
Support with ERP homework
Following the written exposure sheet your therapist designs, step by step, in real life.
No reassurance loops
Gently not answering compulsive reassurance questions, the way your therapist plans it.
Daily routines
Sleep, meals, getting up and getting out, the structure that makes the rest possible.
Getting back to life
School, work and the places OCD has taken away, one step at a time.
Calm in hard moments
Steady, consistent energy when families are often burned out by OCD.
A link to your team
Simple logs your therapist can see, so sessions start where real life left off.
The step-down model
Example of how step-down support often looks
Most plans run about 6 months, the most common length from start to finish. Support is highest right after discharge, the riskiest time, and steps down as you progress.
- Month 1 12–16 hours/day Long days in the first weeks: routines, and the ERP homework your therapist sets, every day.
- Month 2 About 8 hours/day Exposure homework becomes routine. School, work and the places OCD took away start coming back.
- Months 3–4 About 4 hours/day Fewer hours. Harder exposures in real places, with fewer reassurance loops.
- Months 5–6 Visits a few times a week Visits a few times a month. You lead your own ERP.
An example only. Your plan and pace are set with your treatment team. See a month-by-month example plan.
who it’s for
- Clients who want ERP with our in-house therapist, plus daily help between sessions
- Clients already working with an ERP therapist who want help between sessions
- Clients coming home from residential or intensive OCD programs
- Families caught in accommodating OCD who want a different way
what we won’t do
No therapy or exposure design
Coaches don’t provide therapy or design exposures. Your ERP therapist does.No handling medication
We remind and log. Family, a pharmacy or a nurse fills and gives medication.
Who leads it
A director who leads the team, and your clinicians in charge
Our mental health program has its own director, with years of experience in serious mental illness, who hires, trains and supervises every coach. Kathryn’s team and Nancy Getter, LCSW, stand behind them.
How do families pay for it?
Private pay, with paperwork for HSA and FSA accounts. ABLE accounts and special needs trusts can sometimes pay too. For some plans, we can ask your insurer for a single case agreement. It’s a request, not a promise. Contact us to discuss prices. Paying for care
Who is it for?
Clients and their families. For clients under 18, parents sign the support agreement and stay part of the plan.
Where do you work?
In your home and out in your community, across Colorado and Wyoming. Need overnight support in the first weeks home? Ask us on your free consult.
Questions about OCD support
Don’t see yours? Ask us directly.
Do I need an ERP therapist already?
No. You can work with our in-house ERP therapist, or keep the one you have. Either way, the therapist designs every exposure and your coach helps you practice it.
What does a coach do during exposure homework?
They follow the written exposure sheet, stay steady, and gently don’t answer reassurance questions, the way your therapist plans it. If an exposure feels unsafe, they back off and call the therapist.
Can you help with OCD and an eating disorder at the same time?
Yes. Many people live with both. Our programs work together under one team, so one plan covers both.
How long does in-home OCD support last?
About six months is the most common length, with longer days at first and less as you practice on your own.
